WELLINGTON, this day HOSPITALS AND ASYLUMS.'
Dr. Hare, Inspector of Hospitals and Lunatic Asylums in Queensland, who arrived in Wellington a day or two ago, had an interview with the Hon HallJones. He goes next to Auckland, and will probably visit the Hot Lakes district, leaving Auckland for Sydney on Monday next. He had a long interview here with Dr. McGregor, Inspector of Hospitals and Lunatic Asylums for New Zealand, It is understood that Dr. Hare will make a report to his Government on the. results of his tour. THE FRENCH WARSHIP. Capt, Thibault, of the French warship Eure, paid a return visit to the Hoii. Hall-Jones and Hon. J. Carroll on Saturday. Lieut.-Commander Joyce, son of the late Mr John Joyce, M.H.1?., who has been appointed staff officer to Col. Penton, vice Capt. Smith, who accompanied the Hotchkiss Battery to South Africa, commenced his duties today.
