Febniary 11th has been set apart as a day of intercession and prayer for the success of the British arms.
TELEGRAM TO THE GOVERNMENT.
WELLINGTON, Friday.
The Agent-General informs the Government that the English Press Association estimates the detailed British total loss (killed, , wounded, missing and prisoners, and deaths from disease) at 9600. There is nothing new in connection with the Avar operations.

The-Agent-General cables: "Add to estimated loss mentioned in my telegram of yesterday 260 chiefly prisoners of war. Mr Wynclham Under-Seeretary for War, states that the British troops in South Africa will number 180,000 by the end of this month. Kimberley is pronounced safe now, and Mafeking was pronounced sate on January 20.
