The whole of the public schools will •re-assemble oh Monday next. With regard to the Epsom school, the old structure is being removed to the splendid new site secured by the Board of Education, therefore Mr Geo.. Thwaites, the head master, will conduct the school temporarily in the grandstand, Potter's Paddock, entrance from Green Lane. The school opens on Monday. The scholarships won by Kate Edgerley (Girls' Hig-h School scholarship), Charles Rogers (Board of Education scholarship), and Edna Lynch (John Williamson scholarship) will be presented by Mr ,T. S. Ividd, Chairman of Committee, at 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday next. Parents of the scholars are invited to be present. •
" A dividend of 15/ per share for the half-year, equal to 6 per cent., is now payable to the colonial shareholders of the Union -Bank of Australia. The sum of £30,000 has been carried forward.
The final performance of "The Wajj of Wealth" by Mr Bland Holt's clever company will be given in the Opera House this evening. This will close the Auckland season. Mr Bland Hoi* •has staged some fine plays during his season here, and, as usual, has done excellent business, and has given great pleasure to thousands of play, goers during the holiday season. "The War of Wealth" is one of the best of the series of melo-dramas produced here by Mr Holt's company, and lastf evening it was witnessed by a large; and delighted audience. The Police Court did not sit tilt half-past twelve this morning, Mr Bra< bant, S.M., being occupied with an inquest all the morning. The business of the Court was, however, soon dispised of. One first offending "drunk" was convicted and discharged, an<i another lined 10/, to be deducted from the bail. Margaret Wilkie was; con. victed of drunkenness and Sent to gaol for 14 days, it being her fourth offence in six months.
At the eveningl service of St< Andrew's Church to-morrow evening Miss Maud Howard will singl a sacred solo entitled "Vespers H.ymn." The following eight pupils of the! In response to a request by letter from Mr H. Campbell (Mayor of Parnell) and a number of other wellknown citizens. Mr Williams, the Shaksperian reciter, will give another delineation of Shaksperian drama. He will give Part 1 of "Henry IV" oa Thursday evening- next at the Y.M. C.A. Booms.
The Auckland Ladies' Benevolent Society intend holding a "floral fete1 and pageant of the nineteen cen-, turies" on the Ellerslie racecourse oa Saturday, March 3. Half of the net proceeds will be devoted to the patriotic fund for the New Zealand Contingent. The committee intimate that owing to the scarcity of flowera artificial flowers may be used for decorations.
