(Before Mr T. Hutchison, S,M.) Drunkenness. — A female offender (on bail) was convicted and discharged. A Double Charge.—John Hawker was convicted a.nd discharged 0-n a charge of drunkenness and stealing a charcoal iron, the value of 3/6, the property Of Benjamin Cranwell. Threatening Behaviour. — Francis Simmonds (on bail) was charged witli using tii'reat«ning behaviour in Queenstreet on the 2&th January. Defend* and pleaded guilty and was fined 20/; Prohibition Orders.—Prohibition orders were granted against Jdho, Wright and Edward James Simpson. Bemanded.—John Brain was remanded until Saturday next on a oharge of entering the dwelling-house of Anna Aa-buekle, between 25th and 26th of January, ;aid stealing articles ;of the value of 28/. —John Brain and Edward Gibbins Avere jointly charged I that on the 25th January they did steal one table cover, value 4/, the property of David Walker.—The accused were remanded until Saturday next. Disobeying Orders.—Oshaik Ismail, cook on the British ship Jessie Os--1 borne, about to proceed, to sea, was ; charged that he absented himself . without leave. He was further charg!ed with disobeying the commands of i Captain Oantley, master of the ship.— i After evidence was heard defendant i was discharged for absenting himself : without leave, and for disobeying the ! commands of the captain he was ordered to be imprisoned until the rising lof the Court. Defendant said he wishied to go on the ship again, and the ■ captain consented. • . Dismissed. —Two foreigners named Louis .Eosina and Rose Rosiha, (on j.baal), described as man and wife, were; \ charged with being disorderly persons jin that they had insufficient lawful j means of support. -Mr Theo. Cooper ! appeared for the male, defendant, and j Dr. Laishley for the female defendant. Counsel, on behalf of their clients, pleaded not guilty to the informations. j —Detective Maddern gave evidence for prosecution, which went to show that both defendants had money in the J I bank and that they were arrested in j a tobacconist shop in Grey-street: which they had started.—Mr Cooper j submitted the police could not go on I with the ease. On the evidence it | would be aibsvircl to do so.—His Worj ship said no charge had been proved 1 against the 'female defendant, and both informations were dismissed.— Chief-Detective Grace conducted the case for the police.
