A. Gordon presiding, a resolution w;i_ adopted empowering the directors to sell the property upon such terms and conditions as they think fit \VAII_I .SOUTH. The manager reports that he has got the water .veil under and has resinned sinking. The drive is in good solid country, and the manager thinks the prospects are very encouraging. The country is full of small quartz, and -very highly mineralised. BAKltlEl. REEFS. The manager reports that during the past week heavy storms stopped out-, side work and made the ground of the mill site heavy digging. The melting house, assay oliice, and the office buildings are in course of erection. The other work is progressing satisfactorily. In the mine, No. 2 level is in 284 feet, and the reef is two feet six inches. The west rise is up 57 feet, with about three feet of quartz in the top. The winze has beeu sunk sixteen feet. The reef- continues strong and carries high grade ore. Consider. able water comes up from +-he bottom. HAUKAKI ASSOCIATED. The manager reports that during the latter part of the month a considerable, improvement has taken place both at the winze intermediate and the rise intermediate, first-class ! ore having been obtained from both j places. .V_ eastern end of the j winze intermediate a leading stope has been carried along over the drive, and it is from this point that the best ore is coming to hand. Since the clean-up at the. battery on Saturday !we have secured ore worth about 250_; !of gold, and there is still a fair show j left in the face. No work has been clone in the western end during the past fortnight, the 'men being rej quired ait the rise intermediate, from j which point the bulk of the gold makI ing this month's return was won. I During the past four days no quartz i has been broken down, owing to the I time being occupied in timbering, but j a fair start has now been made to I stfrip Hie leader, which still main- '' tains its size, i.e., 2 to 5 inches, and is j encased in favourable country both I for the existence of gold and for I speedy working. Good ore was se- | cured' at the last breaking down. A crushing of 1501b of selected ore for a return of 'tOoz melted gold, valued at £113, has just been completed. From present appearanceslshould think this month's return -will be higher. There have been three parties of tributers working during the month, the only : party jretfcing anything worth nien- | Honing is thait working the No. 5 secI tion: they have crushed 151b of picked stone for a return of 7oz melted gold, valued at .£l9. WAIHI G.M. COMPANY. i The manager reports that the Martha lode at No. 4 level shows a width of 30 feet, composed of ore of good quality, three feet on the footwall side, being slightly mineralised. 'The Kegina lode at No. 4 level averaged four feet in width, and yielded ore : of good quality up to 217 feet west of JNo. 1 shaft, where it was split by a i horse of sandstone. At the Welcome ! lode at No. 3 level, west of No. 3 shaft, I the ore is still of low grade. The ! south-east cross-cut from No. 2 shaft, I No. 4 level, has been extended a total 1 distance of 625 feet, and the Empire 1 drive has been extended a further distance of 16 feet. The lode maintains its value. In the stopes at No. 3 level ; the Welcome lode ranges from 15 to 271 feet in width. The llegina lode at i No. 3 level is about four feet wide and ! composed of ore of fair quality. A i cross-cut has been started from No. 3 ! chamber, No. 2 shaft, for the purpose j of opening up the Empire lode at this I level. The Martha lode at No. 3 level ranges from 19 to 23 feet in width. East of Cameron's Pass, the lode is AM feet wide, and all the ore, from i hero is being paddocked as refractory !.Fn the No.'2 shaft section, east of I Bull's, Pass, the Martha lode is 27 feet I wide, and east of .lagan's Pass, 23 feet j wide. At No. 2 level the cross-cut to intersect the Empress lode, at No. 2 ;lcvel passed throng- a body of quartz .and country rock mixed, six feet in j width, from which two samples gave jan average value of gold 12dwts Ggrs i per ton, silver 3oz 6dwts 4grs per ton. | The Magazine lode at No. 2 level is i about 6 feet wide, and so far rather 'poo^ with the exception of two feet, which is of fair quality. The Victoria lode at the adit level is 10 feet wide. The prospecting shaft is down 80 feet, but as there was no change in the country it was decided to stop and drive some distance north to prove the I country before suspending operations.
