THE CALLIOPE DOCK.
r THE PROPOSED WORKSHOPS *
APPROVED BY THE ADMIRAL,
At the meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board, held on October 31, the following letter was read from Mr C. J. Ferguson, secretary to the Admiral commanding on the Australasian naval station, on board H.M.s. Royal Arthur at Sydney, relative to the equipment of the Calliope Dock for nayal purposes.
"In reply to your letter of the 9th. instant, I have the honour to inform you that His Excellency the Admiral has carefully considered the plans and specifications of the buildings proposed to be erected at Calliope Dock for workshops, etc., and that he approves of the same. With reference to section 12 of the agreement entered into between the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty and the Auckland Harbour Board His Excellency directs mfc to state that the following are desirable additions to the coppersmith's shop to meet naval requirements, and I am to request you will be, good enough to acquaint me at your earliest convenience whether your Board will make the additions: One portable hand crane, or light tra. veller; one pickling tank; and one cooling tank. Mr W. J. Niiipier (Chairman of the Board) said nothing remained now but to call for tenders. The additional apparatus asked for by the Admiral Would not cost, more than £20.
