CHELMSFORD COMPANY UPPER TAIRUA.
The chairman and several directors of the Chelmsford Company paid a visit to the mine and were much impressed and satisfied with the prospects, so much so that they are now drawing up a report to be embodied in the form of a circular to be issued to each shareholder. In order to ascertain the valu.s of the various lodes now being operated upon, five bags of average samples were taken from different places, and forwarded to Mr Eatjen, the metallurgist, who has this day sent in the following results:—No. 4 bag-, assay value per ton, £7 6/6; No. 0, £7 7/7; No. 10, £46 2/3; No. 20, £12 16/; No. 55, £150 16/. Nos. 10 and 55 are the new finds so favourably reported upon by Messrs J. McCombie and Joshua Jackson, who were sent up on separate occasions by the shareholders.
