AUCKLAND YACHT CLUB.
Tlie first of the season's' class races in connection with the Auckland Yacht Club took place on Saturday afternoon. The race for 3ft footers fell through owing Tto there being no entries. There were three starters for the Patiki handicap, Eka and Boomerang being scratch and Zoe having 3m start. The Boomerang's rudder carried away before the start, and her movements were thus hampered, but she succeeded in taking second place. The course was: From mark boat off. end of Queen-st. wharf, round buoy off Calliope Dock, round Sandspit buoy; thence round Viking's moorings, back to starting point. Twice round. Eka and Zoe got away tokether, on the wrong side of the mark, Boomerang being close behind. Eka led over to North Shore, and on the beat to the Calliope buy Boomerang picked up some of her lost ground, rounding the buoy a minute behind Zoe. Eka maintained her lead round the Viking'_ moorings, and rounded the mark boat 1m 12s ahead of Zoe, Boomerang 33s behind. On the beat to the Sandspit nuoy Boomerang took second position, and the finish was: Eka, 5h 2m 15s; Boomerang, 5h 6m 30s; Zoe, 5h 9m 16s. Boomerang takes the prize owing to the other coats starting on the wrong side of the mark.
