His Excellency, the Governor of the French establishments in the Pacific, Mon. Gallet, arrived yesterday from Prance by tbe s.s. Mararoa on his way back to Tahiti. He leaves to-morrow by the s.s. Ovalau.

In connection with the riding competitions at the Agricultural Show on Saturday afternoon it may be mentioned that Mr T. C. Schnacken berg's horse, Dandy Dick, secured higto honours. This horse carried oft' the first in the hunters' class, and Miss Amy Taylor, who carried off the red ribbon in the champion riding competition for ladies, was mounted on/Dandy Dick. Mr Laurence Taylor, who was also mounted on this horse "In the gentlemen's riding contest, carried oft! second prize.

At the Supreme Court this morning Dr. Sharman (police surgeon) testified that Constables Skinner, Kemp, and Findlay could not attend the Court for some few days. They were the chief witnesses in the Mary Walsh perjury case, but were suffering from influenza, and could not attend today. His Honor excused the witnesses for non-attendance.

If the steamer should "leave for Sydney before 5 p.m. or 0 p-m.M the meeting will in consequence have to be abandoned.

At the Agricultural Show Mr James Martin, of Parnell, won first prize in harness horses under 15.2 with his bay. .mare Topsy, sired by Ingomar. Mr J..'Knight, wholesale saddler, of Lome-street, ' had a splendid exhibit Of saddles for buggies, gigs, heavy spring carts . and. drays, also a good display of ladies and gentlemen's riding saddle's. One of the latest ladies' saddles was fitted with the, French cut back free, which gives. freedom and consequent coolness to the horse's wither.
