OLD AGE PENSIONS.
(To the Editor.)
gi r _l suppose all of us expect or hope to : live long enough in this world to secure thepension ,so I conclude the subject of old age pensions must interest all. As no one seems ready with a scheme, allow me to suggest one. In few words, issue a pensionstamp, and every _1 changing hands nragt be receipted by a penny stamp, the stamp, value increasing as the amount increases. It should be no hardship to part with a • penny out of every 20/ for so good a cause, and seeing how often money changes hands the amount derived should prove considerable. Again, the expense of collecting this;>S tax is nil; in fact, it would mean all insuring themselves, for it should be for all of j the required age. The fund should also be popularised by inducing all who can donate to it to do so, and conferring on them some ■ badge or distinction for so doing.—l am, etc., J- GIFFORD.
