AUCKLAND YACHT CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting of the Auckland Yacht Club was held on September 21, in the Public Room at the Harbour Board Buildings. There was a good attendance of members, the Commodore (Mr J. Wisoman) presiding. The annual report and balance-sheet (which appeared in last night's "Star") were read and adopted. The Chairman referred to the death of Mr John Reid, of Motutapu, and mentioned that the secretary had forwarded a letter of condolence to the deceased's brother, Mr James Reid.
The election of officers, which was then proceeded with, resulted as follows: —Commodore, Mr J. Wiseman; vice-commodore, Mr C. P. Murdoch; rear-commodore. Mr W. .Tagger; hon. treasurer, Mr R. S. Reynolds; hon. secretary, Mr G. Bellamy; hon. assistant secretary, Mr Whitson; hon. auditors, Messrs J. C. Webster and E. H. Davis; hon. measurers, Mr A. Buchanan'and <i#htain Gibbs; .committee. Captain Gibbs and Messrs T. Hendeson. H. Haines. J. Hardy, R. Masetleld, F. Wilson, A. Buchanan. E. Y. Miller,.H- E- Windsor and J. Alexander. Messrs Haines. Murdoch. Henderson, Wiseman and Buchanan were re-elected as a Building and Finance Con^it.tee*. and last year's Canvassing Commitl?e were re-elected. Mr J. Ansenne was re-appointed delegate to the Amateur Sports Club.
A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the outgoing officers a*TTtl committee. Thanks were also Recorded to the Harbour Board for the use of their room, and for granting a site for a club house, a..*J also to the press. The annual subscription was fixed at one pinner.* and it was decided after some discussion that, no entrance fee be charged to new members until such time as sufficient debentures for the erection of a club house had been guaranteed, the date to be fixed at a special general meeting. In answer to a question, the Chairman stated that £570 worth of £5 debentures had already been promised. The amount required was from £950 to £1000. The following new members were elected:—F. J. Stewart, E. W. G. Rathbone, Cecil Baftley, A. H. Nathan, H. N. Burgess. Capt. W. D. Reid, D. Winks, G. Clarke. Jas. Sims, M. Aldis, .7. Menzies. Dr. Lindsay, J A. Haslett, W. A. Reid, F. Brodie, L. Brodie, C. Ratjen, H. L. Brett and F. Howard. The question of. admitting life members at a subscription of £10. with a view of augmenting the fund for the proposed club house, was discussed at some lenfrtli. and eventually, on the motion of Mr Haines, further consideration was deferred, members agreeing that it wa..s a matter which required careful consideration before any decision was arrived at. In conclusion, the Chairman expressed the hope that each member would do his best to bring the scheme for a club house to a successful issue and generally further the interests of the club.
