The New Zealand war medal has been issued to Privates John and Neil Thomson, Wairoa Rifles, and M. S. Harney, Royal Rifles. Auckland; also to James Lindsay, for services with the Forest Rangers. The annual report of the Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association (Limited) states that owing to the exceptionally low prices realised for produce, and the keen competition in all other branches of trade, /the year's transactions are not so satisfactory as they have been heretofore. The net profit amounts to £2899. The directors propose to pay a bonus of 2 per cent, on the amount of shareholders' purchases, and to carry the whole ofthe balance forward to next year's accounts. The capital will then be strengthened by about £1800. Whtst regretting that they have to pass a dividend this year, they have done so in order to strengthen the position of the association.
