AUSTRIAN MARRIAGE.
A function of considerable import, ance to our Austrian friends took place on Wednesday, September 6th %_ St. Patrick's Cathedral, at .3 p'm/ when Mr Joseph Franisch Avas united in holy matrimonj^ to Miss Kathleen Keane, of Pukekohe, by the Very Rev Dean O'Reilly, Mr Ruscovich beinir best man, and the Misses Keane, sisters of the bride, being bridesmaids. The bride Avas given aAvay by her father Mr Keane, an old settler of Pukekohe' Mr E. Langguth, H.I.M. Austrian Consul, being present as a special mark of honour on the occasion. The altar and oratories of the Cathedral were suitably decorated for the happy occasion. A large congregation, con", sisting of Austrian and British friends of the bride and bridegroom, assisted at the ceremony. There Avere ei^ht carriages in the procession. After the ceremony the bride and bridegroom and their immediate friends Avere driven to Mr Hanna's studio to have their portraits taken. A laige crowd of spec. ' tators Avas gathered on the footpaths en route from the church to the studio. Afterwards the AA-edding party went for a driA-e through Parnell, Newmarket and around Mt. Eden, thence returning to the Kindergarten Hall Symdnds-st., Avhere the Avedding breakfast took place. Here there Avere several toasts proposed in both the.Croa« i tian and English languages, by Aus--trian and British friends, included in the toasts Avas of course the health of the bride and bridegroom.
In the evening there Avas a ball.in the same hall. The room A\'as nicely decorated and festooned with flags conspicuous amongst Avhich was the Austrian Imperial Standard. Amongst those present Avere the bride and bridegroom, Air and Airs Franisch,Mr Langguth (H.1.A1. Austrian Consul), Ah- Keane, sen., Alessrs Keane, AI. A. Ferri, J. R. Lundon (solicitor), McKoy (secretary Kapal-Vermont Com* pany), Franciscovitch Ruscovitch, "J, AI. Grace, Alisses Keane, Hennelly,; Young, Afesdames Young, Hennelly, Aloore (2), Thompson, Franciscovitch Yiscovitch and a large number of others. Airs Franscovitch played the accompaniments of seA-eral songs sung by her husband and the dance music on the piano, AA-hile Airs Viscovitch had the superintendence of the decorations of the hall and the arrangements of the table, both of which Avere admirable. The ballAvas kept upto the small hours of the morning-. The wedding presents, which were numerous and valuable, AA*ere chiefly from Austrian friends.
