PROHIBITION MEETING.
There Avas a good attendance at the Wesley Hall "No License" meeting held last night. Mr J. C. Morton presided. He urged his hearers to strike out the top line at the local option poll. They had a sword put in their hand, and they should use it. He urged them to Avork for prohibition in a cautious, but enthusiastic, manner. A number of acceptable items were given by Mrs F. Evans and Miss Bodle, Misses E. and M. Marson, Mrs Bodle, and Miss M. Marson. Pastor Bull gave a, fiery speech on the evils of the liquor traffic, making reference to the. payment of Mr Richardson's fine by the Brewers' Association. He also spoke adversely of the gift of £500 given by Staples & Co., brewers, of Wellington, toAvards the erection of churches for the two denominations. Mr Lee challenged with vigour a number of Pastor Bull's assertions, and he said neither Archbishop Redwood nor Bishop Julius would be influenced in their vote by such gifts.
