NEW SOUTH WALES PARLIAMENT.
PROBABLE DEFEAT OF THE GOVERNMENT. SYDNEY, September C. A caucus of the labour party decided by 10 votes to eight to vote against the Government. The defection in the labour party will probably carry a number of other uncertainties, so that the Government may be defeated by anything up to 40 votes. The Speaker has decided to allow an amendment deferring the Neild incident until after the disposal of the censure motion. I Ministerial optimists affect to believe that the labour party will hold another conference and reverse their decision. Mr Barton strongly denounced the Government as guilty of tortuousness and shiftiness during its career, the Premier's attitude towards Federation being a notable instance. He condemned the payment to Mr Neild. Mr Reid trenchantly replied. SYDNEY, this day. The debate was adjourned at two i this morning, after Mr Reid promised to meet the House in the afternoon. Mr Reid has had a conference with the Governor during the last two days, and it is rumoured he has been promised a dissolution.
