MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE

SYDNEY, September. 3,

The president of the local branch of the Church of England Union, in an address, dealt with the facility provided for procuring divorce in the colony. Last year he said 368 petitions were filed in Sydney, and 806 marriages took place through matrimonial agencies. During the same year 2511 illegitimate births were registered, nearly 7 per cent, of the total births for the year, while the number of children born after wedlock within the regular time, after allowing for premature births, amounted to nearly 34 per cent, of the total births.
