Acceptances for all events of the first day's racing of the Avondale Jockey Club are due on Friday next. The race for the Doncaster St. Leger takes place on Wednesday next.According to English files, there is a doubt whether Flying Fox will start. If he does he should prove himself a winner of "the triple crown," viz.. Two Thousand Guineas, Derby, and St.
Leger.
Favona and Tip were schooled over i the hurdles at Ellerslie on Tuesday. ! Both shaped well. The total general entries received for minor events of the Avondale : Jockey Club last night tot up to the ; number of 38G. j The Wbatawhata Racing Club had a 'debit balance of £1 13/2 on the year. The Club have no liabilities, and every season small improvements are made to the course and additions to tbe Club's property. It has been decided to hold the annual races on January 1, I 1900. Sir Edgar Vincent, the owner of '■ Multiform, is a well-kiown man about j town in London, and his wife, Lady j Helen Vincent, is one of the most j beautiful ladies in society. Pony racing is going strongly ! around Launceston, the two lilliputian clubs there running- hot opposi- : tion. One club lately announced free (admission and free rides to the course. Mrs Langtry's racing establishment lat Regal Lodg-e, Kentford, is only a ! small place, although moat beautifully I furnished and decorated. Indeed, ! says a gossip, of all the racing boxes :in the English great world in and around Newmarket there is not one ! that can compare in comfort, taste, and luxury with Mrs Langtry's place. !
