Private cable advices received here report that butter and cheese are advancing in price in London, and instructions are to operate freely, as prices are sure to be high.

Bank of England returns are as follow:—Stock of gold, coin and bullion, £33,984,000; reserve, £2,411,900; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 50.8; in circulation £25,415,000; public deposit, £7,573,000; other deposits, £40,284,000; Government securities, £13,075,000; other securities, £28,----795,000. Three months bills are discounted at 3i per cent.

New South Wales fours, 117; three halfs, 104; threes, 100}. Victorian fours, 111; three halfs, 106. South Australian three halfs, 108; threes, 95. Queensland fours, 111; three halfs, 104; New Zealand fours, 1113; three halfs, 1063; threes, 973. Tasmanian three halfs, 1062- West Australian, three halfs, 105.
The wheat markets are quiet generally and steady. There are no Australian cargoes on passage now offering, but 27/3 was bid. The New Zealand cargoj by the Elisa has been resold for 28/10;"..

Rabbits, Australian, firm, 9d.
Butter: The Britannia's consignment arrived in good condition, but there is no demand. It is valued at 100 to 104/. Buyers prefer fresh Canadian at 106/. The value of new Australian is estimated about 116/. Danish is selling at 126/. Continuous drought has largely enhanced prices, but a sharp fall is expected when Australian butter begins to arrive largely. Copper, firm. Spot £76 12/6; three months £77 17/6. Tin, firm. Spot £136 5/; three months, £137 12/6.
