The annual meeting of the Mt. Eden Bowling Club takes place on Monday. night in the pavilion, notice of which appears in our advertising column. Trophies won during the past seasto are now on view in Messrs Woollams and Co.'s window, Queen street. The annual meeting of the Birkenhead Cricket Club was held on Monday evening last in Riddell's store. There was a large attendance of members.Mr C. Gore presided. The treasurer's report showed the club to be in a souind financial condition, notwithstanding they had gone to the expense of laying down a new pitch. Several new members were proposed, after which the followingofficers were elected: — Patron, Mr J. G. Witheford; vice-patron, Mr E. V. Miller; president, Mr C. E. Button; vice-presidents, Messrs A. L. White (re-elected), W. H. Thompson, J. Speedy, D. Elston, F. Hubble, Jas. Down's (re-elected), A. Riddell, sen., J. R. Gascoigne, T. Smith (re-elected), W. Taylor (re-elected), H. S. Taylor (re-elected); Captain, H. Stewart (re- j elected); sub-captain, Jas. McPhail; secretary and treasurer, J. R. McPhail; executive committee, G. Riddell, C. Gore, J. Wilson, J. Low, W. McDonald, captain and sub-captain; Low, D. Heron; ground committee, H. Stewart, Jas. Low, J. Wilson, A. Riddell. It was decided to hold the annual concert on October 11th. The -following were appointed a concert committee: D. Heroii, F. Osmond. W. McDonald. ~r. Jones, A. Riddell, C. Gore, H. Stewart.
