Nominations for the annual election of councillors at Onehunga closed at noon to-day. The following nominations were made: — Messrs James Nixon, James J. Shaldrick, John D. Jackson, William H. Edwards, George Vause, Charles V. Hill, and Mrs Elizabeth Yates. The three retiring members of the Council are Messrs J. Laking, J. J. Shaldrick, and Mr C. V. Hill. Mr Laking is not seeking re-election.

On Friday evening, September 1, at the Masonic Hall, Otahuhut, an association was formed for the purpose of organising the efforts of the. electors of Franklin with a view to carrying the no-license vote at the licensing poll in December" next.
