The Companies Act Amendment Bill and the Heathcote Road District Sanitation Bill were read a third time and passed yesterday afternoon by the Legislative Council. The Native Townships Bill was read a. second time and referred to the Native Affairs Committee. The Lunatics Act Amendment Bill, making minor changes in the law regarding the administration of estates of lunatics, was passed through ■ committee without amendment and read a third time. ASSETS REALISATION BOARD. The debate on Mr Stevens' motion for a committee to inquire into the working of the Assets Realisation Board1 was continued by Messrs W. C. Smith, Kerr, McLean, A. L. Smith, Ormond nnd Peacock. Considerable party feeling was imparted into the debate, in particular by Mr Ormond. After the mover had replied, the proposal was negatived by 18 votes to 17. The* division was as follows: —
Ayes, 17: Baillio, Barnicoat, MacGregor, Shrimski, W. C. Smith, Taiaroa, Kenny, Morris, Bonar, Stevens, Ormond, Grace, McLean, Williams, Holmesj Peacock, Montgomery. Noes, 17: T. Kelly, Scotland, Richardson, McCullough, Fraser, Harris, Swanson, Kerr, A. L. Smith, liigg, Jones, Twomey, Reeves, Feldwick, Gourley, Pinkerton, Bolt, Walker.
