OTHER MATCHES.
University v. College Rifles.—This match was played oji No. 2 ground at Potter's Paddock, jand resulted in a win for the 'Varrity by 6 points (a try and a penalty; goal) to nil.
View Road v. Kingkland.—The former beat their opponents by 35 points to nil. Nine tiies were scored and four goals kicked. The try-get-ters were:—B. GoultoA (3), J. Dalton (3), S. Heighway, S. Reid, and B. Eastgate one each. Gijals were kicked by J. Stewart (3) and R. Bridgman (1). B. Goulton played a particularly good game. Home Bay v. Hobson.—This match was played at the Domain, and after a closely contested game, resulted in Home Bay winning by 5 points to nil. For the winners a try was scored by Francis, and converted by Mathieson.
Essex v. Federals.—After an interesting game this match ended iv a draw, neither side scoring. Oxford 11. v. Non-such ll—This match ended in a win for the former, one try being secured by McC'owatt, Morgan, Propert, and one converted by Davidson, 11 points to nil. Mr Briddock acted as referee. Takapuna v. Graf ton.—The former won by 26 to A. Davison (2), JLcKenzie, Hart, Woodward, Frankham, Chamberlain, and Chamberlain scored tries, Frankham converting one. iL. D. Nathan and Co. v. A. H. Nathan.—The annual match between these two houses was played on Saturday at Ellerslie. The teams drove out in brakes displaying their respective banners, "Standard" and "lieliable." "Reliables" won the toss and elected to take advantage of a slight slope in the ground. In the first spell Murray secured two tries for "Standards," of which one was converted by Stepbenson. "Eeliables" came to the front in the second spell, and being well blended together kept the leather well within their opponents' twentyfive. This gave Stichbury an opportunity to pot a goal from the field, making the scores more even, but eventually "Standards'' increased their lead by securing another goal from a try gained by Murray. After the match an adjournment was made to the Ellerslie Hotel, where dinner was served in Host Pickrell's best style. At the banquet which followed Mr T. W. Allen took the chair, and the following toasts were duly honoured: "The Queen," "The Winning House," "The Losing House," "Football," "The Commercials," "The Chairman." In responding to the toast of "Football," the referee (Mr Bowers) thanked the teams for the willingness with which his decisions bad been received. The toasts were interspersed with numerous songs, comic and otherwise, and a most enjoyable evening's amusement terminated at half-past nine.
