THOSE PIGEONS' EGGS.
Younrj Surper climbed a fir tree high Some pigeons' eggs to get, Full well he climbed, and to the nest Drew near and nearer yr jt. He reached the nest, two eggs he saw, So very smooth and white. He wondered how ho should convey Them down from such a height.
Deeply he pondered for a whilelie was a thoughtful youthThen one egrsj in his pocket placed, The other in his mouth, lie to descend the tree began In a manner most expert, He wore no coat, but tore instead The sleeves of his new shirt.
When half way down, the careless lad Trod on a bough too weak; It broke—n» fell—but no one hoard An asjanisins shriek. No hurt hud he, save scratches few Upon his sturdy legs, But never after in his mouth he Carried addled eggs.
