THE RAKAIA DIRASTER.
SETTLEMENT OF CLAIMS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Railway Department, state that the total claims sent in in connection with the Rakaia- accident numbered one hundred, of which seventy-five have been settled. Six claims will come before the Supreme Court at Christchurch next week, aggregating £4450, and of this. £3000 represents the claim of one persdn, Mr Abernethy, glue expert. With regard to the remainingl nineteen claims, negj>-' tiations are proceeding whicK are ex-' pected to result in a settlement out of court.
