POONA AND INDIA VILLAGE MISSIONS.

FAREWELL TO MISSIONARIES

A well attended farewell meeting to seven young men who are leaving for India in connection with the Poona and India "Village Mission was held on Saturday night at the V.M.C.A. Lecture Hall. Mr J. L. Wilson presided. The young1 men leaving- for India are Messrs A. E. Rimmer (Fittest. Wesleyan Church), A. Witty and J. Ryburn (St. Luke's Presbyterian Church), R. Duthie (Beresford-st. Congregational Church), De Carteret and F. Strange (Lower Remuera Mission Hall), and J. Bailey (Mount Eden Congregational Church).

The Chairman- said the departure of the young men to the mission field should net in the nature of a reminder to other young men and women to ask themselves if they had not a call to give up their young lives to mission work in Tndia.

The young missionaries gave brief speeches. They asked to have the sympathy and co-operation of Auckland Christian people.

Capt. Mackenzie, the 'Rev. D. O'Donnell and Tfev. Hugh Kelly also spoke suitable words.

The missionaries left for Sydney this afternoon by the s.s. Marn'-^.i pn route to Tndia.
