NORTHERN CO.'S MOVEMENTS.

Friday—Clansman, from North; Wellington for Whangarei, 10.30 p.m.; Muritai- for Kuaotunu and Mercury Bay, 9 p.m.; Gairloch ■ from New Plymouth; Glenelg, from Opunake and Wanganui.

The schooner Greyhound arrives from the North to-morrow.

The schooner Gisborne was floated out of dock to-day, after cleaning and painting.

The s.s. Waihora left Sydney for Auckland- last evening, and is due early on Monday next.

The barque Northern Chief sails for the Kalpara to load timber for Sydney this evening or to-morrow morning.

The's.s. Te Anau sighted a vessel's light off the Barrier this moming.but could not make out the vessel. It will probably be the barque Hiram Emery.from New York and Wellington.

The Tyser steamer Star of New Zealand was expected to leave Sydney for this port last nght. and is due on Tuesday next. Messrs Heather, Roberton, and Co. are tbe local agents.

The mission yacht Southern Cross sailed for Norfolk Island and Melanesia this afternoon. Her cruise will occupy about five months, and she will return to Aucklan ilafcout the middle of December.

Our Whakapirau correspondent writes: "The well-known brigantine Eliza Firth, Captain Murray, arrived in our river en July 6 from Lyttelton, which part uhe left on the 2nd inst. The trip up the coast was a very fine one. The Eliza Firth brings avery large cargo of Southern produce for our local storekeepers, and after unloading she proceeds to the Northern .Wairoa to load timber.
