Cummings worked hard throughout, and scored the try for his team. Alexander also put in g-ood work. Dr. Makgill, Dacre, Monro, Gordon, and Waterman shone among the forwards. T. Roberts did a lot of good sound defensive work, and his kicking was all that could be wished for. He saved his side on several occasions. Hobson behind the scrum was always on the ball, and the same can be said of C. Freeman, who was a scorer. Eaton and Clarke were very conspicuous among the forwards, and Williamson, Otway, Wilson Bros., and Long did good work. Kirkwood also played a splendid game. He scored one of the tries. In the backs Pillenger also played well. Eaton landed two goals out of three attempts, and he also kicked a penalty goal. Newton played a much better game than they did against City on the previous Saturday.
