NAPIER, this day. G Glassford, restaurant keeper, was fined in all £7 18/ on four charges of overworking employees. NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. Exports for the June quarter from New Plymouth totalled £77,032, and from Waitara £16,546. In the corresponding quarter of 1898 New Plymouth exports totalled. £45,094, and those'of Waitara £13,295. These are Customs figures, and do not fully represent the produce of the district. WANGANUI, this day. The criminal calendar in the District Court sittings was light. There •were only four cases, and prisoners all pleaded guilty. John Matson and Herbert Williams, for thefts of bicycles, were each sentenced to six months. ' William White, alias Marshall for bigamy, got three months; and Herbert Charming, for false pretences, twelve months. WELLINGTON, this day. The Arbitration Court is now engaged hearing the painters' dispute. - As the owners have not signified adhesion to the award of the Conciliation Board in the seamen^s dispute the Chairman has reported accordingly to the Arbitration Board.
Cooper, convicted of obtaining a trap by means of a valueless cheque, was sentenced to two years' imprisonment. DUNEDIN, this day. • Subscriptions to the Presbyterian Jubilee Fund now reach £7000. Two members of the same firm gave £500 and £250 respectively.
