Public Works Department,—Helensville Northwards Eailway Extension, 2 artisans, 64. labourers; Thames-Pae-roa Railway, 4) artisans, 125 labourers; North Island Main Trunk Railway, 6 artisans, 316 labourers; BlenheimAwatere 'Railway Extension, 4 artisans, 79 labourers; Midland Railway, 34 artisans, 261 labourers; Otago Central Railway, 14 artisans, 102 labourers; Inch Valley Railway, 3 artisans, 24 labourers; Seaward Bush Railway, 12 artisans, 71 labourers; Forest Hill Railway, 3 artisans, 31 labourers; Defence Works, Auckland, 6 artisans, 12 labourers; Great South Road, Westland, 28 labourers; Denniston Track, Westland, 23 labourers; Public buildings generally, 60 artisans, IS labourers. Total, 153 artisans; 1154 labourers—l,3o7.
Labour Department—State Farm (also' 10 families), 3 artisans, 20 labourers. Grand total, 2,876.
