ALARMING REPORTS.

PRETORIA. June 18

The Government of the Transvaal disavow any idea of calling- in a foreign power to arbitrate in their differences with Britain. A meeting- of four thousand burghers held at Parde Krall resolved to support Kruger in not conceding more to the Outlanders. General Joubert, vice-president, and iour other members, of the Transvaal Executive were present at the meeting-. Alarming statements have been made about a number of quick-firing gun: in the possession of Boers. Women and children are now leaving Johannesburg. President Krug'er has announced that the reformers would not be excluded from the franchise. y CAPETOWN. June 17. The despatches of Sir A. Milner and Mr Chamberlain created a profound impression at the Cape. There are great complaints at Kimberley of the military's unpreparedness, and the Government is denounced for delaying the delivery to the volunteers of the new guns ordered by the previous Ministry. • LONDON, June 17. Three batteries have been ordered to Natal. They will reach there in August. Sir H. Campbell-Bannerman, speaking at Ilford, said the action of the Transvaal Government did not justify war or preparations for war. Pacific pressure would suffice to settle the difficulty.
