WHANGAMATA GOLD COR r POEATION.
. This Company's new. battery- started permanent crushing at Whangamata on.Thursday evening, the machinery being, set in motion by Mrs McLiver (wife of Mr Hugh McLiver, miner manager), who cut with a handsome pair of silver scissors, presented by the Company, the ribbon of .white silk that released the starting wheel. The plant consists of two Blake rock-breakers, a revolving oredryer, two Krupp ball-mills, and 12 cyanide vats, with the usual accessories. The first Krupp mill was started last' night, and the second will be in running order in the course of the next, fortnight. It is estimated the ore now being sent to the mill will yield at the rate of £3 to £4 per ton. The plant is operated by a 6ft. diameter Pelton wheel, working a vertical head of 153 ft. of water, delivered to the ..pressure:box by. a flume 4ft in width by 2sft. in depth. The mill is electrically lighted by a dynamo operated by a. 3ft.. diameter Pelton, and the Offices of the Company and residences : o f the staff are illuminated in the same mariner. •.',,. .
