TOMATOES, TO PICKLE

One peck of tomatoes, one pint of vinegar, 2oz cloves, lqz mustard seed, 2oz white pepper. Prick.the tomatoes with a fork and put into a basin, being careful not to bruise them. Let them remain two days, adding a little salt to, flavour; pour off the liquid and boil it with vinegar and spices; bottle tomatoes into stone jars, cover well Avith cold vinegar, tie down with brown paper, and keep cool. Ready for use in a few days.
