WAITEKAURI RETURN.
£5,629 FROM 1,938 TONS.
The return from the Waitekiuri mine for the past month's operations is not quite equal to the two previous ones this year. During the 24 days the mill was running 1,938. tons of ore were treated for a yield of bullion worth £5,629. This brings up the output to date this year to £20,378, and the total return from the mine has reached £1f>9,920, exclusive of about £80,000 worth obtained from the old Waitekauri property before the present company took it over.
At the above company's No. 1 shaft the crosscut at No. 4 level is in fortythree feet north. The rock is tight, but there are signs of water and a change of country. No. 3 level is in 312 feet on a good class of ore. At 300 feet in the lode was crosscut, and proved to be 17 feet wide, of which 12 feet was payable. The No. 3 rise from this level is up 34 feet on good ore. At No. 3 level there is no change to report. At No. 2 shaft, No. 2 level, a crosscut is being driven, whilst the shaft is also being sunk to the No. 3 level. In the old Waitekauri mine the rise is 78 feet above the smithy' level, and the ore won is of excellent grade. At the battery the alteration of the second ten head of stamps to suit wet crushing Avili be completed in another week. The Gates' stone crusher is in. position below the kilns, and awaits the construction of the hoppers.
