SHAREMARKET.

The Exchange opened again to business to-day, but. as some of the brokers and clients were still holiday-making little was dove. Standard stocks were almost totally neglected, the only buying quotations being 8/3 for Northern Steam, 20/ for Taupiri Coal Mines, and 21/ for Union Oil. For mining stocks a better feeling existed. The welcome news of the discovery of a good payable reef in the Wailii-Silverton mine caused shares in that company to advance suddenly to-day, buyers going from 7/ to 8/3, while the only seller asked 9/. Waihi Extended shares were wanted at Gel, and Crowns at 13/, while buyers of Talismans offered 14/3. Waitekauris were enquired for at 3S/ and May Queens at 5/3. In Coromandel stocks sales of Hauraki Associateds were reported at 6d, while Royal Oaks were wanted at 1/2 and Bunker's Hills had firm buyers at 3/.
