The newspapers warmly appreciate New Zealand's patriotism in offering troops for Samoa.
The Times says Mr Seddon's action in offering troops for Samoa is welcome proof of the loyalty and Imperial spirit of a great self-governing colony.
NEW YORK, April 3
The New York Herald ' states that Mr Hay, Secretary of State, has informed Herr Holleben. German Minister at Washington, of the American Government's displeasure at Consul Rose's attitude in Samoa, and that pending a settlement they expected the Germans to bow to the will of the majority.
Admiral Kantz describes Consul Rose's proclamation in Samoa as incendiary.
