AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS

Hall and Perkins report:—Good business has been done in all lines, with satisfactory prices, excepting potatoes and onions, which remain as before. We note that the potatoes coming forward are largely of poor quality, and recommend consignments of good, well-sorted samples. Fruit market is very much better now and good, clean, well selected lots real'e payable prices. Apples, 2/ to 4/6, some at 5/, others 1/9 to 2/3; pears, Id to 2id: passions, lid to 13d; plums, Id to 2d; peaches, 5Jd to 1/1 doz; grapes, outdoor, 2d to 3Jd, hothouse 3d to 7d; lemons, 4/6 to 6/6 case; Cape gooseberries, 3d to 5Jd per lb; water melons, 2/9 to 6/ doz; quinces, poor demand and large supplies, id to Id per lb; figs. Id to 3d per doz. Produce department: Potatoes. 30/ to 50/ ex store, cow potatoes 15/ to 20/; onions, 3/6 to 4/6; picklers, ?.d to _d; garlic, 2d per lb; chaff, 2/3 to 2/6 ex store, best quality £2 at railway or wharf; grain of all kinds supplied at "lowest current rates; butter, dairy, very scarce, can do with any quantity, also keg and box butter, dairy 9d to lid, keg 7d to fld for best: eggs. 1/4 to 1/7 per doz—we want 500 dozen weekly for orders; poultry, this week showed a better demand and much better prices were realised, fat table roosters up to 2/3, ordinary fowls 1/ to 1/9, ducks' 1/3 to 1/10, geese 2/6 to 3/3, turkeys 3/3 to 6/9; pigs sold very well, demand good, 5/ to 9/ up to 30/.
