On Tuesday afternoon a man whose name is unknown was* drowned in the Kaipara Harbour, alongside the Aratapu Wharf. The man had been an A.B. on the barque Onyx, and went by the name of Dublin. At the time of. the accident he was engaged in getting drift logs ashore, and while on one.of these it capsized near the Wharf. His head struck a pile, and he sank. The body was recovered about twenty minutes afterwards. An inquest was held in the Aratapu Hotel yesterday morning, a verdict of 'accidentally drowned' being returned.

The ordinary Waikato down .train which arrived this afternoon and the special train brought down a large crowd of excursionists, who come to Auckland for the Easter holiday period. All of the stations on the line bore a busy appearance with passengers going "to and fro.- The Waikato Mounted Volunteers, who take part ,in the encampment, came down by train from Frankton, and detraija'ed at Remuera, proceeding thence tp ; Epsom. The ordinary and special up trains from Auckland also took a great number of excursionists to Rotorua, Te Aroha, and othei' centres.
