BIRKENHEAD AND NORTHCOTE FRUITGROWERS' ASSOCIATION.
There was a fairly large attendance oij Monday night, when the election of ten : new members brought the membership to exactly 100. A request from the Avondale Association for help in getting a, littf,: form fruit case adopted was dealt with, and on the motion of Messrs Arch. "Wilson and Parrish it was decided to reply that the Brisbane standard bushel and halt bushel cases were becoming generally; adopted in the district and were gaining: favour. But instead of the Brisbane quarter bushel, a more suitable case tor peaches and other soft fruit was fQUitfJ to be what is known as the gra^ C j tomato case, four inches or six Inches deep, according to the size of fruit to be packed. The secretary was instructed tq inquire as to the steps necessary to b» taken in order to have the Association registered. During a, discussion on manure prices the following figures •wer« given showing the English and the cola, nia} values:—Nitrate of spda, In. England, £7 10/ to £7 15/ per ton; in New Zanlana, I £16. Bone meal, £5 10/ to £5 12/6, in Ne* Zealand £5 10/ to £6 10/. Kainit £2 7/t to £2 10/, in New Zealand £4 7/6. Super* phosphate, £2 to £2 15/, in New Zealan* £5 10/.
