In the Legislative Assembly the second reading of the Settlers' Relief Bill was carried by 77 to 2.

In the Council Dr. McLaurin gave notice of his intention to move amendments in committee on the Federal Enabling Bill fixing- the time of the Federal Parliament to sit in Melbourne, and dealing with the financial clauses. Ho said he regarded lAc Bill as a miserable copy of the first one.

In the Legislative Council the debate on the second reading' of the Federal Enabling Bill was opened. Dr. Maclaurin presented a petition with fourteen thousand signatures against the Bill. He adversely criticised the Bill, and said he had every confidence that the good sense of the people would reject it.
