AUTUMN MEETING.

WANGANUI, Wednesday.
The Wanganui Jockey Club opened their autumn meeting to-day, when there was a capital attendance. Concluding events resulted:— WANGANUI CUP of 600sovs. One mile and three quarters. 421—Messrs Richardson and Donnelly's br h Douglas, Gyrs, by Crawford Priory—Good Fruit, 8.4 (Noble) 1 201—Mr L. D. Nathan's blk c Explo- ! sion, 3yrs, 8.3 (Gallagher) 2 169—Mr F. Watson's b g Battleaxe, 4yrs, 7.5 (Lindsay) 3 3G7 Coeur de Lion, 8.0; 143 Waiorongomai; 3SG Coronet: 188 Uhlan; 205 Rubin, 7.7; 145 Toa, 6.7, also started. The field was despatched to a good start, Toa being the first to show in the lead from Uhlan, Douglas and Explosion. ! Toa strode along in front, and soon had : a lead of three lengths, which he increased as the field swept round the back of the course. At the half mile Douglas, Battleaxe and Explosion moved up, and when another quarter of a mile had been traversed Douglas wrested the lead from ; Toa, followed by Battleaxe and Explosion, the light weight having fallen back beaten. These horses led into the straight, Douglas clinging to the lead, and finally ! winning by three lengths, Explosion just i beating Battleaxe for second place. Time i 3m 5 1-Bs. Dividend, £4 15/. Total on the i machine, £2225. WANGANUI TWO YEAR OLD STAKES of 150sovs. Six furlongs. Mr L. D. Nathan's eh f Rosella, 2yrs, by Seaton Delaval—Roie, 8.3 (Buchanan) l Mr L. D. Nathan's eh c Hastings, 2yrs. by Seaton Delaval—Liquidation, 5.7 (Gallagher) 2 These were the only starters. Won all the way. Time lm 19 l-ss. There were only two investors on the machine, £1 o neach, and the dividend was £1 16/. FIRST HACK FLAT of SOsovs. One mile a distance. 150—Mr L. Fitzmaurice's eh g Taplow, syrs, by Punri—Gipsy King mare, 3.7 (O. Cox)... i 151—Mr E. Hammond's br m Lady Helena, aged, 8.91b (Russell) 2 -'45-Mr F. Watson's eh g Dartmoor, 4yrs, by St. Leger—Lyrelinus, 7.7 (Hutchison) 3 Also started: 575 Marvellous, 98- 107 Worry, 9.7; 101 Wui-iti; 36 Mainboom 8.10----on each, and the dividend was £1 16/. 98 Doctor Bill, 7.10; 40 Lightning, 7.76 47 Birthday, 7.7. Won by half a length from the little Cap-a-pie mare. Dartmoor was v. good third. Time 2m 1 2-ss. Dividend, £8 19/. Total on the machine £1494. FLYING HANDICAP of lOOsovs. Six furlongs. 270—Mr R. Syivia Park delayed the start a good deal. When the tapes flew up Titoke was lirst to snow in front, and was never afterwards displaced, shaking off a challenge by Boreas in the straight, and winning by about a length.
