Mr Coleman Philips, one of the eanv I diates for the Wairnrapa seat, addressed a meeting last night, and received a vote of thanks. An incident in tha>s proceedings was a disturbance caused f by Mr Adam Armstrong, returning officer at the last election, denouncing a statement made by the candidate a* 1 1 a deliberate lie. Eventually the police asked Mr Armstrong to leave the hali.
The cruiser Talbot conveys Lord Herscheli's body to England. •
