CITY VALUATIONS.
(To the Editor.)
gj r> _The City Council are about to elect a very important officer, namely, a valuer, and I might suggest' that a candidate be selected who has not at any time resided in the city and become mixed up with cliques and societies of various kinds,' /> and which to some extent must militateagainst his doing his duty in all cases ' strictly as he ought. If an outside man were put in the position—and I am certain plenty of competent valuers can be found outside the city-he would begin his work fearlessly, and knowing no one ;: would take each case on its merits, ana ' the result would be a fair and equitable valuation.—l am, etc., .; S.c.
