PAEROA, this day.

Mr McKay, Government geologist, proceeded to Waihi to-day with the object of examining and reporting upon the recent reported find of coal near Waihi. In connection with this find four applications for claims under the Coal Mines Act have been made by Messrs Evans, Holmes. McLean, and Dehars. Messrs Coutts, mining inspector, and Ryan, assistant inspector, passed through Paeroa today on a visit of inspection to the Karangahake mines, and to inquire into tiie recent accident to Murray in the' Crown mine.
