A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

WHANGAKEI, this day,
i The railway guard, Mr A. J. Cole, ■ met with 0 distressing accident this i morning. While he was shunting at i'Whakapara station an empty truck run over one of his legs, severely 1 crushing it. He was brought down lat noon, and attended by Dr. Sweet, I who says the. only hope, of saving ' the limb ia amputation, but he fears i Cole will not survive an operation.
