A THOUGHTLESS PAINTER.
'What is this figure in the background?' asked the German Emperor. 'That,' answered the artist, 'is supposed to be Your Majesty on top of a mountain commanding the world.' 'Nonsense. Paint it out.' The mountain is a good idea; but the idea of putting me in the background under any circumstances is preposterous!'
