Talisman shares firmed in price today on the Exchange, sales being made at 14/6, and more could have been placed at the same figure. Waihi shares had buyers at £5 14/0, but no sellers quoted under £6. Waitekauri shares were wanted at 40/, and Silvertons at 5/9, but those prices were declined. An inquiry was made to-day for Whangamata Gold Corporation shares at 3/9, but holders asked a considerable advance upon that price. Buyers offered 3/ for Komata Reefs and 2/3 for Ohinemuris, but no sales resulted. In cheaper lines, Castle Rocks were wanted at 2d, Hauraki No. 2 shares at sd, and Imperials at 4kl, but no sales followed. Standard stocks had good inquiry. South British Insurance were wanted at 53/, but no sellers quoted. National Insurance were wanted at 17/3 and National Mortgage at 17/. Auckland Gas new issue were a trifle firmer, £10 7/0 being offered. Gisborne Gas were inquired for at 36/6, and buyers of Palmerston North advanced another shilling, as 64/ was offered. Coal shares were not m such strong demand.
