ACCLIMATISATION IMPORTATIONS

WELLINGTON, this day

Mr Ayton, Curator of the Acclimatisation Society, returned by the Aorangi with- two million white fish eggs, presented to the Government by Canada and America. He will take them at once to Lake Kanieri, hatch, and distribute them among the Cold Lakes. He- also brought 120 Virginian quail, some of which did not stand the voyage well, and a few Canadian geese. He has arranged to procure a million salmon ova and a consignment of Canadian elk if the Government will pay the expense.
