Wharf labourers engaged by the Union Company and Huddart Parkers, taking advantage of briskness m trade, struck for an advance of ninepence to a shilling per ton. The ."Union'Company, in order to prevent delay in discharging the Taieri's coal cargo .temporarily complied with the demand. .
