BOROUGH MEETINGS.
. ♦ — The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Parnell Borough Council was held last TvenTng in the Borough Council Chambers, Manukau Koad, there, being present the Mayor, Mr H. Campbell, in the chair, Crs. Briggs, McCabe, Fitt, Tewsley, Petford, Mowbray, Cozens, and Friend. Firebell —The tender of Messrs Shearer and Sons of £16 for repairs to the nrebell stand was accepted. It was resolved to pull down the old firebell stand. Reserve.-A letter was received from the Under-Secretary for Lands notifying that allotment S3, section 1. suburbs of Auckland, had been vested in the Bor-. ough Council. Finance.-General accounts amounting to £8S 10/ were passed for payment, as was the water account for the quarter of £286. This was £10 less than for the same quarter last year, and on the basi3 of a population of 4400 gave a consumption per .cad per day of 13:1 gallons. Manukau Road.-The Streets Committee recommended that two chains of Manukau Road from the public school to the turning below should be kerbed and channelled. The matter was adjourned. It was resolved to excavate five feet from the water table towards the middle of the road in the same place and fill up the space with boulders. Alma Place.'—Mrs Cooper was requested to prevent the water falling from her buildings in Alma Place on to the path* either by spouting or removing the buildings.
