THE LOCAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.
WINS FOR AUCKLAND XL, UNITED
AND PARNELL.
The matches in the eighth draw of the local cricket championships were concluded on Saturday afternoon, in splendid weather. In the senior grade Auckland XI knocked up 232 in response to Gordon's 7S of the previous Saturday, the chief scorers being Clayton (54), Nicholson (49) and R. Neill (41). Kissling was the most successful of the Gordon bowlers, securing 6 wickets for 48 runs. In their second venture Gordon batted very poorly, the whole innings (three men short) only realising 49 runs. Cullerne (11) was the only double figure scorer. Auckland thus won by an innings and 105 runs. United defeated Auckland XV. on the first innings by 87 runs. The feature of Auckland's second innings, which yielded 101 runs, wa.& the bowling of P. Hay, who secured seven wickets at the remarkably small cost ot 11 runs.
